It is estimated that 6% of infants, 3% of children aged 10 years and about 1-2% of adults are affected by one or more food allergies. Although any food can trigger an allergic reaction, milk, soy, eggs, wheat, tree nuts, sesame, peanuts, crustaceans and molluscs are in Canada, the foods most often implicated in severe allergic reactions. Allergic reactions usually occur within 60 minutes after ingestion of the food in question. However, there may be reaction to 4 hours post-ingestion. Skip this period; it is unlikely to be a food allergy. A good diet provides the body young and healthy, balanced growth. Milk, milk, milk – just need the babies in the first 4 to 5 months.
