If you’ve been carrying your baby for more than 8 months now, you’re probably ready to get him or her out of there. By now, you’re tired, sore, and most likely very eager to get the birthing process over with. The baby will come when it comes, though, despite the expected date that doctors told you or what you feel yourself. You just need to wait it out and hope for the best.
There are some things that you can do, though, to keep yourself going during the last few weeks. Trying to induce birthing is almost never a good idea unless the alternative is somehow going to be harmful for the baby. So instead of trying to get it out too early, do some of the following things to inspire yourself and help you get through the final stretch.
When exercise is brought up, it’s not actual hardcore exercise. Things like walking, pelvic rotations, stretches, and other simple moves are usually recommended so that you can keep your body moving and the blood pumping despite your lack of mobility. An exercise ball can be a light and easy way to get some good moves going.
Simplify Your Life
In these last weeks, you don’t want to try to overachieve in any area of your life. Don’t expect to be able to continue working full time or getting the house chores done consistently. It will usually be all you can do just to walk around, so don’t try to overdo. Let your husband, friends, and family help you. Hire help if you need to. Take extra time to rest and spend time with those you love, because once the new baby comes, you won’t have time for anything but the newborn.
Have Fun with Baby Prep
Doing things like picking out baby names and looking over what supplies you have for when the baby comes can be fun and distracting. There’s really not much you can do but distract yourself and try to have a good time, and choosing baby names or deciding on room color schemes are both sometimes the best options. It’s all about mentally and physically relaxing, and things that reinforce the fact that there will be a new life born (rather than the fact that you’re going to have to carry it around for a little longer and then push it out) are positive and good for you. Those baby names aren’t going to choose among themselves, after all.
